Teale Vella
Physiotherapist
APA Titled Sports & Exercise Physiotherapist, MACP. Registered International Sports Physical Therapist (RISPT).
Teale Vella is a passionate physiotherapist dedicated to educating, empowering, and advocating for the health of her patients. She has a special interest in treating female athletes, bridging the gap between sports performance and pelvic health physiotherapy.
After several years working in football across the A-League Women’s, National Premier League, and Illawarra Premier League, Teale recognised a lack of education and consideration for the unique needs of female athletes. This inspired her to pursue postgraduate training in Women’s Health and a Masters in Sports Medicine from The University of Melbourne.
Teale is a Titled Sports & Exercise Physiotherapist through the Australian Physiotherapy Association and a Registered International Sports Physical Therapist (RISPT) with the International Federation of Sports Physical Therapy. She is also a member of the Australian College of Physiotherapists which represents leaders in clinical practice, research and academia. More information about titling can be found here.
Notably, she worked with The University of Sydney on industry-leading research into heading injuries in Youth National Premier League, which informed injury prevention policy by FIFA and Football NSW. Click to read Teale’s publication #makeheadingsafer
More recently, Teale has been working on the publication of her Masters thesis evaluating concussion prevention strategies in adult football (soccer) players and assisting with the development of the Australian Institute of Sport’s Best Practice Recommendations to Support Elite Athletes from Preconception to Parenthood.
